Painting I: The process I used for my color swatches was pretty simple. I started with the pure, primary color in the middle and added white going in the left directing and black going towards the right. The gradient scales were a bit harder because I struggle with blending but I got the hang of it by applying a thick coat of yellow then moving the darker color from the right to the left. My art is the black and white sketch . The artist I will be following this semester is a senior at Beech High School named Joslyn Brinkley. She's a very skilled painter and I asked her to say a bit about the piece below.(the last one). "Here is one of my most recent projects. It is on a 30x36 canvas. This was my first time using oil paint so I was fairly nervous at first but super excited to try something new, which I ended up loving and now have used it several more times. I have a love/hate relationship with oil. I hate how long it takes to dry and how messy it can be, but it is MUCH easier to blend than acrylic paint. Oil is a long process, with layering the first coat with oil then the second without oil, but in the end result is beautiful and worth it."
